Get Started with Your Trezor Hardware Wallet — Quick Guide

A short, safety-first walkthrough to initialize your Trezor device, protect your recovery seed, connect to supported apps, and perform your first transactions.

1 — Prepare

Work on a trusted computer and use a reliable USB cable (data-capable). Keep a pen and the physical recovery sheet that came with your device ready. Avoid public or untrusted machines when handling a hardware wallet.

2 — Install companion software

Use the manufacturer’s official resources to find the recommended companion application (desktop or mobile). Do not download installers from third-party mirrors or unknown links. The companion app guides initialization and later helps manage accounts and transactions.

Security tip: Always verify you are on the manufacturer’s official domain before downloading software.

3 — Initialize the device

  1. Connect the device and power it on.
  2. Follow the on-device prompts to create a new wallet or restore an existing one.
  3. Choose and confirm a secure PIN directly on the device.
  4. Write down the displayed recovery seed word-by-word and in order on the supplied sheet. Confirm the seed when prompted.

Never take a photo or type your seed into a computer or cloud service. Treat the seed like cash: offline and physically secure.

4 — Connect to apps & add accounts

Open the official companion app or a trusted wallet that supports your device. Use the app’s add-account flow to install any required blockchain apps to the device, then add accounts for the coins you want to manage. The device performs all signing operations; private keys remain on the device at all times.

5 — Send & receive safely

To receive funds, request an address from your account view and verify that same address on the device screen before sharing. To send, create the transaction in the app and verify the recipient address and amount on the device screen before approving — this on-device check is essential to prevent malware trickery.
